Genossenschaft Migros Zürich | Retail | 1200 | $280M | Switzerland | SAP | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | 2022 | In 2022, Genossenschaft Migros Zürich implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial application, engaging Bechtle as the system integrator to provision a new SAP S/4 HANA environment for corporate finance functions. The deployment established a centralized ERP Financial footprint to support the cooperative’s accounting and reporting workflows. The implementation focused on core ERP Financial modules, with configuration work on general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, and financial close processes. SAP S/4 HANA was used to capture accounting configurations and master data required for group-level reporting, and the project aligned financial bookkeeping with category-aligned controls and period close automation. Reclassifications recorded in the previous year relate to internally generated intangible assets originating from the ONE Smart Solution project, those assets were transferred from M-Industrie Ltd. to the Federation of Migros Cooperatives and registered under the new SAP S/4 HANA environment. Operational coverage centered on finance and accounting at Genossenschaft Migros Zürich, with accounting classifications and asset ownership updated to reflect the transfer to the Federation of Migros Cooperatives. Governance and process changes were introduced to ensure that internally generated intangible assets are captured, reclassified, and tracked within the SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ledger and asset accounting ledgers, incorporating audit trails and change control into day to day financial operations.

Krombacher Germany | Consumer Packaged Goods | 1151 | $733M | Germany | Sophos | Sophos Mobile | Endpoint Management | 2023 | In 2023 Krombacher Brauerei documented use of SOPHOS Mobile Control, referenced as Sophos Mobile, within Endpoint Management and engaged Bechtle Dortmund and EBF to migrate managed iOS and Android devices to Microsoft Intune. The engagement is recorded as an FMCG IT device management initiative focused regionally in Germany. The implementation centered on unified endpoint management capabilities for device enrollment, policy enforcement, application management and mobile security for iOS and Android devices. Sophos Mobile was used to enforce MDM policies and manage mobile application distribution across the corporate fleet. Configuration work emphasized enrollment workflows, compliance checks and remote management controls. Bechtle Dortmund and EBF executed a phased migration approach from SOPHOS Mobile Control to Microsoft Intune, with phases completed rapidly within months. Operational coverage targeted corporate mobile endpoints used by Krombacher staff across Germany, aligning IT device management processes with the new UEM platform. The migration workflow included staged device cohorts and sequential policy cutover to minimize operational disruption. Governance and rollout were managed through the SI partners alongside Krombacher IT, focusing on enrollment governance, policy alignment and staged cutover sequencing. The project record notes the migration event in 2023 and highlights the rapid phased completion timeline.

Genossenschaft Migros Zürich | Retail | 1200 | $280M | Switzerland | IBM | IBM Power Systems | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2022 | In 2022, Genossenschaft Migros Zürich deployed IBM Power Systems as part of an Application Hosting and Computing Services engagement designed and delivered with Bechtle to address backup architecture and SAP system lifecycle needs. The project scope covered the data centres of Migros Zürich and the cooperating Genossenschaft Migros Aare, and targeted SAP Retail FI/CO and HR environments together with the underlying backup and server infrastructure. Bechtle redesigned the backup topology around IBM Storage Protect software, implementing Node2Node replication so backup servers communicate directly across the two data centres. The storage and backup configuration follows a modular building block approach sized to IBM Red Book recommendations, with three IBM Storage Protect servers per data centre, two operating as a Power HA cluster that is self sufficient, and a third hosted in the opposite data centre for disaster recovery. The disk pool runs on an IBM Flash system and a shared storage area network, and tape libraries for disaster recovery are located in the alternate site. In the SAP lifecycle phase, Bechtle combined new IBM servers based on Power10 technology into a unified Enterprise Pool 2.0 using IBM Power Systems, leveraging Power Enterprise Pools 2.0 to virtualize capacity across both cooperatives. Capacity sizing was calculated on a 26 core basis, and the Hardware Management Console provides administration, monitoring and measurement of the pool. Additional power consumption is tracked and billed through capacity credits, enabling minute level resource usage accounting. Operationally the implementation preserves the long standing data centre network between Migros Zürich and Migros Aare, enabling mutual business continuity and disaster provisioning while sharing disk pools and compute resources. The solution integrates with the joint SAP platform service that supports retail merchandise management, FI/CO and HR, and centralizes server management and replication processes across both cooperatives. As stated in project details, the new architecture enables the two cooperatives to flexibly use capacities in the event of server failures and to reduce operating costs, and Migros Zürich and Migros Aare collectively booked 200 capacity credits to allow on demand additional services. |
