Mubea | Automotive | 17000 | $3.5B | Germany | SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 - Sales and Distribution (SD) | Supply Chain Management | 2009 |
In 2009, Mubea implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 - Sales and Distribution (SD) in the Supply Chain Management category to standardize global business processes and support its sustained growth. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 - Sales and Distribution (SD) deployment was provisioned as a central, globally available instance to consolidate sales order processing and distribution workflows across the group.
Functional coverage included finance and controlling, materials management, procurement, sales and distribution, human resources management and SAP Business Warehouse, with a specific emphasis on Sales and Distribution capabilities for order management, pricing and delivery processing. Configuration work focused on integrated master data management, batch processing orchestration and automation of core supply chain transaction flows to enable concurrent report runs and high volume order throughput.
The technical architecture ran on IBM Power 770 servers using the IBM i operating system, POWER7+ processors and PowerVM virtualization, with DB2 for i as the transactional database. Storage was modernized using IBM SAN Volume Controller, IBM XIV and IBM FlashSystem 820, and backup and archiving were provided by IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and IBM System Storage TS3500 tape libraries. Storage components were distributed and mirrored across two data centers for high availability and rapid recovery, and the project included a zero downtime storage migration supported by implementation partner Axians Germany and IBM Business Partner FRITZ & MACZIOL.
Operational scope covered Mubea sites and global business functions including sales, procurement, materials planning, finance and HR, enabling simultaneous report execution and higher concurrency for order processing. Reported operational outcomes from the deployment included up to 35 percent faster evaluations, 66 percent reduction in batch runtimes, a 50 percent reduction in storage latency, overall response times improving by about 23 percent to roughly 500 ms, some batch jobs completing three times faster, complex integrated processes accelerating by 20 percent, reports running up to 30 percent faster and monthly figures being deliverable up to one day earlier.

Mubea | Automotive | 17000 | $3.5B | Germany | SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 - Materials Management Purchasing (MM-PUR) | Procurement | 2009 |
In 2009, Mubea implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 - Materials Management Purchasing (MM-PUR) as a centralized Procurement solution. The program was executed with Axians Germany as the system integrator to support a global standardization of business processes across the automotive supplier.
The deployment concentrated on the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 - Materials Management Purchasing (MM-PUR) module, configured for core purchasing workflows including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendor master data, and purchase-to-pay orchestration. Configuration work emphasized master data harmonization and transactional procurement processes, integrating MM-PUR with materials management to centralize sourcing and inventory related procurement decisions.
The operational architecture ran SAP ERP applications on IBM Power 770 servers with the IBM i operating system and PowerVM virtualization, using DB2 for i as the database. Storage and availability were implemented with IBM SAN Volume Controller, IBM XIV and IBM FlashSystem 820, complemented by IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and TS3500 tape archives, and business data was mirrored across two data centers for high availability and rapid recovery.
The implementation was delivered as part of an integrated SAP landscape that also covered finance and controlling, sales and distribution, human resources, and SAP Business Warehouse, creating centralized process ownership and a continuous global rollout of additional functions. Axians Germany supported implementation and cutover activities while local IT operations established change control and master data governance to operate the integrated systems.
Reported outcomes tied to the combined application and infrastructure implementation included evaluations accelerated by up to 35 percent, batch runtimes reduced by 66 percent, and storage latency reduced by half. Application response times decreased by about 23 percent to roughly 500 ms, selected SAP batch jobs ran three times faster, complex integrated processes accelerated by 20 percent, reports ran up to 30 percent faster, and monthly financial figures could be delivered up to one day earlier.
