Brewer Science | Manufacturing | 600 | $80M | United States | Oracle | Oracle E-Business Suite | ERP Financial | 2016 |
Brewer Science implemented Oracle E-Business Suite in 2016, positioning Oracle E-Business Suite as its core ERP Financial application while initially hosting the environment in a traditional data center. The Oracle E-Business Suite deployment served manufacturing finance and operational functions with on-premises application and database components prior to managed services engagement. In 2017 NaviSite was introduced as the managed services provider to host and manage Brewer Science’s EBS environment, and NaviSite proactively identified opportunities to optimize the IT landscape, including more flexible scaling of storage and the need for deeper application performance visibility. To address those needs NaviSite proposed and executed a migration to the Amazon Web Services public cloud, performing a lift and shift migration of the Oracle E-Business Suite application server and underlying database between early February 2020 and late June 2020. As part of the cloud migration NaviSite performed an operating system upgrade from Linux OEL5 to OEL7 and transitioned day to day managed cloud operations to AWS, providing ongoing support and weekly operational meetings with Brewer Science. Post-migration governance centered on managed services oversight, recurring operational reviews, and application performance monitoring for the Oracle E-Business Suite ERP Financial environment, enabling Brewer Science to introduce scalable storage on AWS and remain within budget while gaining improved visibility into application performance configuration and resource usage.

Brewer Science | Manufacturing | 600 | $80M | United States | Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Amazon EC2 | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2016 |
In 2016 Brewer Science implemented Amazon EC2 as its Application Hosting and Computing Services platform, positioning the company to leverage public cloud infrastructure for enterprise application workloads. Brewer Science engaged NaviSite as its managed services provider in 2017 to operationalize and manage its Oracle E-Business Suite environment on that infrastructure.
NaviSite executed a lift and shift migration of Brewer Science’s Oracle E-Business Suite application server and underlying database to Amazon Web Services, running on Amazon EC2, and performed an operating system upgrade from Linux OEL5 to OEL7. The technical scope included rehosting application and database tiers to EC2 instances and reconfiguring the OS and instance resources to support E-Business Suite performance and stability.
Operationally NaviSite provided ongoing managed cloud services, including day to day operational support and weekly status meetings with Brewer Science, and actively identified opportunities to optimize storage scalability and application visibility. The migration work took place from early February 2020 through late June 2020 and was completed in four and a half months while teams operated under pandemic related constraints.
Governance and runbook changes were implemented through the managed services engagement, enabling Brewer Science to gain deeper insights into E-Business Suite performance, configuration and resource usage on Amazon EC2. As a result of NaviSite’s managed cloud services on AWS, Brewer Science introduced scalable storage and improved application visibility while remaining within budget.

Clinigen | Life Sciences | 1013 | $639M | United Kingdom | Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Amazon EC2 | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2016 |
In 2016 Clinigen implemented Amazon EC2 as the compute layer for its Oracle EBS deployment on Amazon Web Services, aligned with a cloud-first Application Hosting and Computing Services approach to support its global distribution model and variable demand. The company selected NaviSite as the systems integrator after an introduction through Clinigen’s acquisition of IDIS, drawing on NaviSite’s Oracle and AWS expertise to reduce project risk during development and rollout.
NaviSite helped Clinigen develop, pilot, test and implement the Oracle EBS database and application tier on Amazon EC2, and implemented Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, OBIEE, using Amazon Relational Database Service with associated BI application components deployed as Amazon EC2 instances. The implementation centered on provisioning EC2 instances for application services and RDS for the OBIEE database, with configuration and testing phases to validate application connectivity and performance in the AWS environment.
Operational coverage extended to Clinigen’s global distribution operations and central IT, with the AWS environment hosting the Oracle EBS database and application stack to support core business functions. NaviSite transitioned from project delivery to an ongoing hosting services role, providing managed services for the AWS environment and the Oracle EBS database, and handling infrastructure management, support and keep the lights on activities including backup and recovery and deployment of new functionality and updates.
Governance and support arrangements emphasized partnership and Oracle-specific operational knowledge, with NaviSite providing ongoing maintenance and operational support to help Clinigen modernize its IT services while keeping the Amazon EC2 based application infrastructure stable and supported.
