In 2015, Emirates Global Aluminum implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its core ERP Financial system. Yash Technologies served as the implementation partner, while EGA SAP technical specialists maintained ongoing BASIS operations and HANA database administration during and after the rollout.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment encompassed a multi-tier SAP landscape that included SAP ECC, Enterprise Portal, Business Intelligence, Process Integration, APO with Live Cache, DMS, GRC, and BusinessObjects, with SAP HANA positioned for database services. Technical workstreams documented include HANA installation and revision upgrades, HANA backup and recovery and system copy processes, parameter changes and HANA tuning, and routine HANA user administration.
Data replication and real time provisioning were implemented with SLT, installed and configured as a separate SLT instance on the source system. Mobility and external access were addressed through NetWeaver Gateway and SAP Mobile Platform landscape design, SMP installation and configuration, and EGA Mobility application configuration using VIS and SAML authentication. The program also included SAP system support scope for external party interfaces and ongoing maintenance across the listed SAP components.
Governance and access control were formalized through SAP HANA user governance, creating DB users and role constructs with Read and Edit privileges, and enforcing role based privileges for functional users to restrict BI report data access at the database level. Infrastructure initiatives run in parallel included an SAP domain migration project and a hardware migration from IBM Power 6 to Power 8 to align platform capacity with the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 landscape.

Emirates Global Aluminum | Manufacturing | 7000 | $8.2B | United Arab Emirates | IBM | IBM Power Systems | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2015 |
In 2015, Emirates Global Aluminum upgraded and standardized IBM Power Systems as its core platform for Application Hosting and Computing Services, with Yash Technologies engaged as the systems integrator for hardware migration and platform provisioning. The implementation explicitly included a hardware migration from IBM Power 6 to IBM Power 8 as part of broader SAP landscape stabilization, and the IBM Power Systems platform hosted SAP HANA and SAP application workloads.
The deployment covered extensive SAP BASIS operations and SAP HANA database administration, including HANA installation and revision upgrades, backup and recovery, system copy, parameter tuning, and user administration. The team implemented user governance by creating SAP HANA database users and role based privileges, and applied role based data access controls for BI reports to restrict database access to functional users.
Architecturally the IBM Power Systems environment supported multiple SAP components, including ECC, Enterprise Portal, Business Intelligence, Process Integration, APO, LiveCache, DMS, Mobility, GRC, BO, HANA and external party interfaces, and included a separate SLT SAP Landscape Transformation instance installed on the source system. The mobility landscape received targeted work for NetWeaver Gateway and SMP landscape design, sizing, migration, and SMP installation and configuration, with Mobility app configuration for SAML authentication also implemented.
Governance and operational practices were adjusted to centralize SAP system support and control, with ongoing SAP BASIS management, HANA tuning, and role driven access governance embedded into operational routines. Yash Technologies supported the platform migration and configuration activities, while EGA teams participated in related programs such as the EGA One HR project and domain migration for the SAP landscape.
