In 2009, Ashland University implemented Ellucian Colleague (ex Datatel) as its Education ERP. The deployment targeted the university’s central business office and Advancement Services, aligning core administrative and advancement functions under a single campus ERP platform.
Ellucian Colleague (ex Datatel) was configured to support advancement and donor management workflows, including constituent records, gift entry and processing, stewardship tracking, and operational reporting. Configuration work emphasized role-based security, structured stewardship workflows, and batch data processes consistent with Education ERP functional patterns for higher education advancement operations.
The implementation was operated alongside Intrinsic Informer for reporting and performance monitoring, with explicit use of both Ellucian Colleague and Intrinsic Informer to improve operational performance. Day-to-day use involved close working relationships with other business office personnel to ensure data consistency and coordinated financial and advancement processing across the institution.
Governance and process work accompanied the technical implementation, with the Chair of the Stewardship Committee developing donor relations strategies and an authored Office of Donor Relations Implementation Plan presented to department leadership as a strategic vision. Operational leadership also included responsibility for Advancement Services daily operations during a reorganization period from June 2016 to February 2017, reinforcing system governance and stewardship program workflows.
Practitioners at Ashland University reported improved performance with Intrinsic Informer and Ellucian Datatel Colleague softwares, and the implementation supported a donor-centric stewardship program through integrated donor management and reporting capabilities.
