In 2019 Georges River Council deployed SAP Concur Expense as its Expense Management solution to support finance, procurement preparation and human resources administrative processes. From October 2019 to February 2020 a personal assistant provided executive support and performed procurement preparation and expense data entry using the SAP Concur platform, working directly with the Manager, Governance and Risk Management and the broader management team.
The implementation emphasized core expense reporting and administrative workflows common to Expense Management deployments, including configuration of approval routing, policy controls and structured expense data capture to align with council procurement and governance procedures. Work systems, procedures and processes were developed alongside the platform configuration to standardize data entry, meeting and travel expense capture, and to embed fiscal and HR process touchpoints handled by administrative staff.
Governance and rollout were organized around administrative-first operations with the personal assistant acting as a primary operator during initial months, producing documentation, agendas and management presentations to support adoption. Operational coverage centered on the Manager, Governance and Risk Management function, procurement support activities and finance and HR process handoffs, with formalized procedures and training for administrative users to govern ongoing use of SAP Concur Expense.
