| SAP | Legacy | SAP Apparel and Footwear (SAP AFS) | Retail Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2013 | 2013 |
In 2013, Safilo USA implemented SAP Apparel and Footwear (SAP AFS) as its Retail Management platform across its global operation, initiating a program to establish a common standard for system, process, software, hardware, infrastructure and networking across all Safilo worldwide. The program was positioned to centralize core retail and operational functions under SAP Apparel and Footwear (SAP AFS) to support finance, procurement, supply chain, logistics, sales and human capital management.
The implementation scope covered explicit SAP AFS functional modules including Finance and Controlling, Treasury and credit management using SAP AFS FI, CO and FSCM, Materials Management and SRM for procurement, Extended Warehouse Management and MM for logistics and warehouse management, Quality Management using SAP AFS QM, Sales and Distribution with SAP AFS SD, and HCM components including SAP HR, PA-TM and Nakisa. Rebate and commission processing was handled through SAP Vistex, while contact center capabilities were delivered with SAP CRM, and digital asset management and B2B commerce used DAM with CQ5 and Hybris.
Integrations and selective go-lives were explicit in the program plan, with distribution planning using JDA going live in EMEA and Asia, finance and controlling, treasury, credit management, procurement and quality management modules going live in Safilo Spa, and the DAM platform deployed worldwide. The landscape linked SAP Apparel and Footwear (SAP AFS) to third party solutions including JDA for distribution planning, Nakisa for HCM extensions, SAP CRM for contact center management, CQ5 for DAM and Hybris for B2B commerce, and Vistex for rebates, forming a multi-system retail operations architecture.
Program governance was exercised through a centralized transformation program management office responsible for full project lifecycle activities, including negotiations, team management, delivery oversight, budget control and partner management for worldwide process design and system implementation. The program manager role covered end-to-end coordination of process standardization, configuration governance, and cross-functional rollout sequencing to align supply chain, finance, procurement, logistics, quality, sales and HR processes under the Retail Management platform.
The stated objective of the 2013 program was to move to a single standard across system, process, software, hardware, infrastructure and networking for all Safilo worldwide, concentrating operational control and process design on SAP Apparel and Footwear (SAP AFS) to unify finance, supply chain, procurement, logistics, sales, contact center, digital asset and human capital management functions.
