In 2022, Tata Steel Nederland implemented Visma HRM Absence & Leave to address Absence and Leave Management within its HR organization. The initiative was driven by the IT manager for Tata Steel in Europe as part of a three year IT roadmap aimed to optimise the employee journey and enable more data driven HR operations across the company in the Netherlands.
The Visma HRM Absence & Leave rollout focused on standard absence recording and leave request workflows, manager approval routing, and employee self service for time off. Configuration work emphasized workflow automation for absence approvals and category based absence tracking, aligning with typical Absence and Leave Management functional modules and reporting capabilities to support HR case handling and workforce planning.
Operationally the implementation was delivered alongside an HR service management deployment using Neocase HR, with Visma Absence management integrated into the broader HR application landscape. The program is positioned within a larger roadmap that includes a planned full re implementation of SAP SuccessFactors, indicating orchestration of absence data flows between service management, absence administration, and future core HR systems.
Governance for the project followed the IT roadmap and digital HR transformation mandate, with centralized IT leadership setting the timeline, configuration standards, and new ways of working for HR teams. Visma HRM Absence & Leave was implemented as a component of that governance structure to standardize absence processes and feed standardized absence data into subsequent HR modernization efforts.
