In 2010 VietinBank began implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite as an ERP Financial platform, launching one of the largest banking industry ERP programs in Vietnam with an implementation budget of nearly 4.3 million USD. The multi-year project was executed by FPT IS, formally starting in June 2010 and achieving its first deployment point in August 2011 after a program of phased rollouts and nearly two years of coordinated work across bank teams.
The implementation delivered core modules including internal financial management, human resource management and payroll, management information and corporate reporting, and financial and banking management within Oracle E-Business Suite. The Internal Financial Management module was extended to five non-business units outside the CoreBanking scope as part of final deployment activities, and the program emphasized configuration for financial consolidation and corporate reporting workflows.
Operationally the Oracle E-Business Suite deployment ran as a parallel system with the bank s CoreBanking platform, providing bidirectional exchanges and supplemental data flows after nine staged deployments. The rollout covered 151 units that operate against CoreBanking, and project activities included urgent data conversion work and consolidation of financial statements for subsidiaries and branches in Germany and Laos to prepare group model reporting.
Governance and rollout focused on coordinated cross-departmental collaboration, with close cooperation between VietinBank project teams and FPT IS to drive sequential go-live events. By mid-April the implementation was officially put into operation for all 151 units in scope, and by mid-May the ERP program was moving toward formal closure following the final conversion and consolidation tasks.

Governance practices established role-based security controls, operational runbooks, and a steady cadence of solution development and maintenance activities. Oracle PeopleSoft HCM serves as the bank's Core HR platform and has been supported by Vietinbank's internal PeopleSoft resources since initial deployment.

In 2016, VietinBank implemented the in house VietinBank Core SunShine as its Core Banking platform, replacing Oracle Flexcube across its Vietnam network. The initiative targeted modernization of core banking functions including payments, account and card processing, and central transaction processing for retail and corporate banking operations.
VietinBank Core SunShine was deployed with a system wide Big Bang cutover, the program went live on 2 February 2017. The deployment centralized transaction processing and settlement functions to a single core instance, consolidating branch, ATM, and internet banking transaction flows and standardizing account lifecycle and payment workflows.
Press reports indicate integration with IBPS and NAPAS to connect the core to national interbank payment rails and ATM switching infrastructure, supporting the bank s card and ATM modules. The project replaced Oracle Flexcube as the bank s primary transaction engine and aligned payments and clearing processes under the new platform.
Operationally the bank executed a single go live event and centralized run operations on the VietinBank Core SunShine platform, updating governance and operational procedures to support the consolidated core. The program delivered measurable improvements in transaction throughput and processing stability as reported after the go live.
