In 2015, ABC Block + Brick implemented ECI Spruce as its Distribution ERP. The implementation included conversion of the company billing system from Sirius GT Accounting into Spruceware.net, a project managed by the company MIS Manager across a multiyear program beginning in 2012. The deployment aimed to consolidate transactional billing into ECI Spruce and extend transactional consistency across hub offices and production plants.
Workstreams included a full billing conversion, the creation of a Credit and Collections application built on a SQL Server database back-end with a VBA front-end, and the formalization of collection rules driven by credit class and purchase and payment history. ECI Spruce was configured to host the converted billing ledger and to support AP and AR workflows. The program also implemented an electronic time clock system and converted site security cameras from local analog units to networked ethernet equipment at each location.
Infrastructure changes extended the corporate network from hub offices to production plants to support networked time clocks, IP cameras, and centralized database access. SQL Server was provisioned for transactional processing and a data warehouse was established to enable consolidated reporting. A robust reporting suite was developed for executive management and automated reports were created for audiences from accounts payable and accounts receivable to inventory and production using VBA, Excel, and Crystal Reports.
Governance and process changes centralized web content control and web design ownership to the internal MIS team to provide more flexibility in content timing, and the public site was upgraded with responsive design elements. Operational governance placed reporting, data maintenance, and collection rule enforcement under MIS stewardship, aligning finance, operations, and production functions around ECI Spruce as the core Distribution ERP.
