A-ware Food Group Professional Services 2200 $1.5B Netherlands Infor Infor M3 Manufacturing ERP 2014 n/a
In 2014, A-ware Food Group implemented Infor M3 as its Manufacturing ERP to support its cheese production and distribution business. The deployment targeted the companys end to end cheese value chain, explicitly addressing aging, cutting, packing and transportation processes where Infor M3 has deep vertical functionality in dairy operations. The implementation focused on core Manufacturing ERP capabilities, configured for production planning, inventory and lot traceability, quality management and financials to reflect batch oriented cheese ripening and shelf life constraints. Configuration work emphasized lot control, batch costing, shelf life rules and material flow orchestration to ensure operational alignment with cheese maturation and packing workflows. Infor M3 was integrated with an IBM Cognos Business Intelligence solution to centralize operational data and accelerate access to management information, enabling consolidated reporting and process monitoring. The combined footprint captured the full business operationally, consolidating production, logistics and commercial data to support monitoring and decision making. A-ware executed the rollout in close partnership with long term industry integrator Alfa-Beta Solutions, which led sector specific configuration and implementation given its dairy domain experience. Governance was overseen by the CFO Roeland Tjebbes responsible for ICT, with implementation attention on embedding process controls for aging and ripening workflows. As a result the implemented Infor M3 solution captured the entire business and made management information quickly available for monitoring and control.

A finance team member at the Hilversum site participated on the project team implementing Infor M3, ensuring local controlling requirements were represented during design and configuration. The program explicitly covered the Hilversum location and the German affiliate in Gelsenkirchen. Configuration work focused on core financial management, budgeting and forecasting workflows, and the inventory and production planning capabilities typical of Manufacturing ERP suites. Infor M3 was configured to operationalize ownership of actuals and forecasting, produce consolidated actual and budget figures, and introduce strengthened control mechanisms across finance processes. Implementation activities included designing general ledger workflows, period close orchestration, and master data hygiene practices consistent with finance control objectives. Governance and process changes were driven by the finance reorganization for the German affiliate and the establishment of a local finance team of six in Gelsenkirchen, managed through revised reporting lines and responsibilities. The Financial Controller in Hilversum initiated a formal control function and coordinated cross-departmental process improvements that were embedded into Infor M3 operational workflows. The deployment affected finance and controlling functions, and required integration of transactional inputs from multiple operational departments into the Manufacturing ERP.
