The implementation delivered core PLM capabilities for materials and formula governance, including management of 5000 plus raw materials, 1000 plus packaging materials, 2000 plus finished goods, more than 10k formulations and over 4k specifications. Functional modules and automation included workflow development that provided a single view of tasks for stakeholders, email notification engines, reports configured for trend and data analytics, and a set of formal workflows such as automatic mail trigger, Non Conforming Product workflow, Design Change Request workflow, Green Compliance workflow, Type 2 workflow and Pre per workflow.
Asian Paints designed and developed an integration platform to SAP to operationalize PLM data across supply chain and plant systems, using webMethods as the integration bus and additional components built with Spring MVC and Java. The SAP integrations supported use cases to make product formulations available for production, expose inspection plans for quality control, and enable management of alternate inventory to switch to cost effective formulations without releasing new formula versions. Integration scope covered enterprise supply chain teams, eight manufacturing plants and more than 20 OPCs.
Operational governance incorporated documented technical designs, unit and integration testing, post production support and adherence to KPIs and SLAs for application support, reflecting the Programmer Analyst role in design validation and ongoing support.
