A part time fixed term HR role was originally three months but was extended to June 2016, responsible for providing a comprehensive HR service to employees and site management for the Rotherham site which employed circa 200 staff.
NGA PWA Empower HR was used to manage recruitment and the full employment lifecycle, including issuing offer letters and contracts, conducting reference checks, arranging inductions, performing probationary period reviews, and creating new starter records within the Empower HRIS. Functional capabilities implemented included absence management for holidays and sickness, administration of discipline and grievance procedures, coordination of training within budget, and management of medical suspensions and return to work interviews.
The deployment integrated NGA PWA Empower HR with the Optimum Time & Attendance System to produce weekly and monthly attendance and overtime statistics and to align time and attendance data with absence management workflows. Reporting from the Optimum integration fed operational attendance metrics used by site HR for overtime control and sickness monitoring.
Governance and operational workflows were structured around site level HR administration working alongside the Group HR Manager, with Empower HRIS records driving onboarding, probation tracking, and occupational health referrals. The implementation emphasized configuration of HRIS onboarding workflows, time and attendance data feeds, and documented procedures for contract issuance, induction scheduling, and occupational health coordination.
