In 2015 Akebono Brake USA deployed QAD Enterprise Asset Management to centralize material planning and inventory control across its manufacturing operations, using Enterprise Asset Management capabilities to support procurement, requisitioning and inventory reconciliation. The deployment focused on two plant facilities and on workflows that directly support production transfers, chemical management and intercompany order forecasting. Configuration emphasized inventory and procurement workflows within QAD Enterprise Asset Management, including creation and issuance of weekly vendor releases, creation of requisitions for production chemicals, management of QAD receipts and execution of cycle count and inventory transfer processes. Functional capabilities implemented included a Critical Parts List for chemicals, inventory control templates to set count frequencies, daily and monthly planning logs, and maintenance of a Production Chemical Tracker linked to EAM requisitioning. Operational coverage integrated EAM usage with Finance, Indirect Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving, warehouse partners and logistics providers, coordinating intercompany order spreadsheets, international transport planning and overdue shipment tracking. Teams used QAD Past Due reporting and daily LTL tracking reconciled to QAD receipts, and planners coordinated with freight forwarders and carriers to manage shipment timing and expedite authorizations when required. Governance and process changes included standardized planner responsibilities, documented runout scenarios for material substitutions, and participation in the annual physical inventory as an Area Release Auditor to validate counts entered into QAD Enterprise Asset Management. The program produced explicit operational outcomes, including consolidated raw material ordering to enable production transfer between plants and reduced monthly count requirements through revised inventory control criteria and cycle count scheduling.
