Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust | Healthcare | 6308 | $1.2B | United Kingdom | Rackspace Technology | Rackspace Data Center | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018 Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust implemented Rackspace Data Center as its incumbent data centre fabric and main provider for Application Hosting and Computing Services. The Rackspace Data Center was established to host the Trust's application and compute workloads, providing the primary infrastructure layer that supports clinical and corporate IT functions across the Trust's IT estate. The deployment positioned Rackspace as the central platform for infrastructure provisioning and operational capacity management for the organisation.
The implementation included standard Application Hosting and Computing Services capabilities such as compute and storage hosting, virtualization and managed infrastructure, network fabric provisioning, capacity scaling and monitoring. Configuration emphasis was on managed hosting and colocation style services delivered from Rackspace Data Center, aligning platform operations with the Trust's application lifecycle and infrastructure availability requirements. These capabilities were applied to support hosted applications and compute workloads rather than being limited to a single functional module.
Contract governance is a material part of the implementation profile, Rackspace is recorded as the incumbent cloud and data centre provider and the Rackspace contract ends March 2025. Annual spend details are treated as commercially sensitive information and are withheld under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 exemption at section 43 2, reflecting the Trusts position that disclosure could prejudice commercial interests. The contract end date creates a defined governance milestone for procurement and renewal planning under the Trusts existing supplier management processes.

Metro Bank | Banking and Financial Services | 4040 | $669M | United Kingdom | Rackspace Technology | Rackspace Data Center | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2017 | n/a |
In 2017, Metro Bank implemented Rackspace Data Center to host its core banking infrastructure, classifying the deployment under Application Hosting and Computing Services. The Rackspace Data Center implementation houses the complete Temenos T24 core banking application stack and is the primary production environment for capture, processing and reporting of static, dynamic and transactional bank and customer information.
The deployment runs Temenos T24 alongside integration and middleware components including IIB, TCIB and Mteller, and database tiers such as SQL Server, Oracle and PL/SQL. Rackspace Data Center supports both Linux and Windows application tiers, virtualized infrastructure via VMWare, and container and orchestration patterns consistent with Kubernetes, Docker and managed Kubernetes services.
Operational architecture is dual site, with the complete T24 application stack running from two Rackspace Data Centres Lon-1 and Lon-3 that are physically separated and connected across a Wide Area Network using MPLS. Metro Bank retail sites reach either data centre through a mix of connectivity methods, with application traffic managed by Local Traffic Managers and filtered through firewalls, and hybrid cloud components including AWS and Azure used for specific services and workloads.
Platform and operations practices implemented as part of the Rackspace Data Center environment include infrastructure as code and configuration management using Terraform, Puppet and Ansible, CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Maven and GIT, and platform tooling across Azure DevOps, EKS, EC2 and AKS. Security engineering and secure design patterns were embedded into operational responsibilities, with environment engineers and platform engineers maintaining provisioning, container image workflows and configuration management.
The Rackspace Data Center implementation directly supports core banking and customer-facing channels such as Internet Banking, ATM and POS networks, IVR and payment gateways, aligning infrastructure, middleware and automation to the business functions of transaction processing, reporting and customer channel interfacing.

Royal Air Force (RAF) | Aerospace and Defense | 32000 | $41.0B | United Kingdom | Rackspace Technology | Rackspace Data Center | Application Hosting and Computing Services | 2012 | n/a |
In 2012, the Royal Air Force (RAF) provisioned Rackspace Data Center under the Application Hosting and Computing Services category to host its bader.mod.uk websites and associated peripherals. All bader.mod.uk sites and peripherals, including databases, were stored at a RackSpace UK Limited data centre, reflecting a centralized hosted deployment model using Rackspace Data Center for web hosting and data persistence for the Bader estate.
Access governance was tightly controlled, there were no external contractors or companies with access to this data, restricting operational access to RAF personnel and RackSpace UK Limited operations staff. The deployment emphasized hosting and database storage capabilities within Application Hosting and Computing Services, with operational scope limited to the bader.mod.uk sites and their peripherals and managed from the RackSpace UK Limited data centre in the United Kingdom.
