Piraeus Bank | Banking and Financial Services | 11395 | $2.2B | Greece | Scality | Scality | Cloud Storage | 2023 | Infinitum |
In 2023, Piraeus Bank implemented Scality ARTESCA as an on premises S3 backup repository, operating within the Cloud Storage application category. The Scality deployment serves as the bank's object storage platform to support backup and data protection workflows for Microsoft 365.
Scality ARTESCA was installed on HPE Apollo nodes and configured to present S3 compatible endpoints for Veeam backup jobs. The configuration emphasized S3 object semantics and immutable storage controls to retain backup snapshots and enforce retention policies typical of enterprise backup repositories.
The solution integrates directly with Veeam to protect Microsoft 365 data and functions as the target repository for Veeam backup and restore workflows across the organization in Greece. The deployment, delivered with guidance from partner Infinitum, protects approximately 577 TB of Microsoft 365 data.
Operational coverage centers on enterprise backup and data protection functions, with governance aligned to backup retention, restore testing, and operational support handoffs. Piraeus Bank reported a reduction in total cost of ownership for data protection of approximately 30 percent following the Scality deployment.

Sfr France | Communications | 8000 | $12.9B | France | Scality | Scality | Cloud Storage | 2010 | n/a |
In 2010, Sfr France deployed Scality RING using the Scality Cloud Storage platform to consolidate internal backup and archive storage. The initial implementation centralized backup and long term archive on a unified object storage layer to standardize capacity management and retention workflows.
Sfr reused the same Scality platform to launch a set of external cloud services, provisioning customer facing backup, archiving, file sync and share, and video on demand offerings. Scality RING was configured to serve both operational backup workflows and multi tenant service delivery, aligning storage management, capacity growth, and object storage APIs for new services.
Operational scope included internal IT backup and archive workloads and external consumer services across France, supporting more than 25 million customers. The deployment has grown to multiple petabytes of stored data, with more than 7 PB reported, consolidating storage for both internal operations and commercial cloud services.
Governance emphasized platform reuse and staged service rollout rather than separate point solutions, enabling Sfr to expand its service catalog rapidly while consolidating operational storage processes. The program explicitly lowered total cost of ownership and enabled rapid service expansion for customer services.

Telenet | Communications | 3000 | $3.0B | Belgium | Scality | Scality | Cloud Storage | 2010 | n/a |
In 2010, Telenet deployed Scality as Cloud Storage to support its large-scale messaging and email services across multiple geographically distributed data centers in Belgium. Scality RING is used to store and serve the operator's messaging and email environment, supporting roughly 4.9 million email subscribers.
The implementation functions as an object storage platform for messaging, safeguarding more than 24 billion unique objects and providing online serving and persistent storage for mailbox and message objects. Configuration emphasizes high availability and durability, removing the need for traditional backups and aligning operations around always on storage and data redundancy.
The Scality deployment spans multiple data centers within Belgium to ensure continuous service delivery and to achieve the stated objective of 100% availability for subscribers. Operational scope covers the messaging and email business function across Telenet's infrastructure footprint, with storage operations and cross site data distribution central to service continuity.
Rollout began in 2010 and ongoing governance centers on storage operations, object lifecycle controls, and operational processes to manage billions of objects at scale. The deployment eliminates traditional backup workflows and explicitly reduces operational cost and downtime risk as part of Telenet's messaging infrastructure strategy.
