1Life (Management Solutions) | Leisure and Hospitality | 1500 | $300M | United Kingdom | ShopWorks Software | ShopWorks | Workforce Management | 2017 | n/a |
In 2017, 1Life implemented ShopWorks from ShopWorks Software, deploying a cloud based Workforce Management platform across 45 facilities in the United Kingdom. The rollout centralized staff rostering and scheduling for the leisure centre group and replaced multiple manual systems that had been used independently at individual sites.
The ShopWorks application delivered core staff rostering and rota management capabilities, a biometric time and attendance module for managing third party contractors, an online employee portal and a dedicated mobile application, plus an integrated employee messaging module. Functionality emphasized shift creation and qualification rules to ensure the correct qualified staff members are allocated to shifts, schedule visibility for staff, and accurate attendance capture to feed payroll and shift management processes.
Operational coverage included HR, payroll and operations across all 45 sites, with the cloud based architecture providing a central view of rostering to identify overstaffing and shortfalls and to enable demand driven shift adjustments. The biometric time and attendance model was specifically deployed to manage contractor cleaners, recognising unique physical characteristics to create a 100% accurate attendance record for billing and payroll reconciliation.
Governance and process changes centralized rostering rules and introduced review workflows to standardize pay rules and reduce payroll errors, while staff self service access allows employees to view scheduled hours and expected pay on demand. 1Life reported improved control over staff management and greater operational consistency through the ShopWorks Workforce Management deployment.
