Anglian Water Utilities 5000 $2.0B United Kingdom Visa Visa Spend Clarity (ex Fraedom Expense) Expense Management 2008 n/a In 2008, Anglian Water implemented Visa Spend Clarity (ex Fraedom Expense) as its Expense Management application to centralize travel and expense processing across People and Payroll functions. The deployment was positioned to support Travel and Expenses administration and routine payroll-adjacent tasks handled by People and Payroll coordinators, with explicit operational ownership by teams responsible for starters and movers, employee data maintenance, and payroll deductions. Visa Spend Clarity (ex Fraedom Expense) was configured to support card and cash expense capture, automated policy breach detection, and accounting validation workflows, including VAT and tax coding checks. Configuration included modules for corporate card reconciliation, cash expense auditing, and Corporate Gifts and Hospitality compliance, and it was used to issue entitlements such as Love to Shop vouchers through established administrative workflows. The implementation integrated with Barclaycard travel and expenses card administration and operated alongside TIME Holiday and TIME Overtime management, with handoffs to payroll and Non-Pops pensions team workflows for pension administration. Operational integrations were reflected in daily activities, such as auditing sampled transactions for coding accuracy, responding to employee and manager queries via a dedicated telephone helpline, and processing incoming mail and email within agreed service levels. Governance and process controls were formalized to enforce the expenses policy, with routine audits of policy breaches surfaced by Visa Spend Clarity (ex Fraedom Expense) and sampling procedures to verify compliance with Corporate Hospitality and VAT rules. Administrative procedures were maintained to reflect statutory obligations, and Line Managers received transaction information as part of operational approvals and enforcement. The implementation scope emphasized Expense Management controls, auditability, and payroll adjacency rather than wholesale structural change.
