The Royal Mint Manufacturing 909 $2.4B United Kingdom Microsoft Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Supply Chain Management 2023 Hitachi Solutions America In 2023 The Royal Mint implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management to support its Sustainable Precious Metals programme and a new UK e-waste precious metals recovery plant. The implementation was delivered with Hitachi Solutions America as the systems integrator and leveraged the broader Microsoft technology stack including Dynamics 365 Business Applications, the Power Platform, Azure cloud services, and Data and AI platform components. The deployment focused on end to end manufacturing and materials workflows, connecting inbound receipt of UK sourced e-waste through identification, component disassembly, materials capture and movement into manufacturing and inventory. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management was configured to provide inventory and warehouse management, production and process control, lot and serial traceability, and quality and batch handling consistent with supply chain management functional needs, with Power Platform automation used to orchestrate task flows and operator guidance. Architecturally the solution moved on premises infrastructure to Azure, creating an elastic cloud foundation that supports rapid integrations and scale during peak processing periods. A new data management function was established to surface secure, self serve information to business users, and the implementation emphasized data governance and enhanced cybersecurity as core components of the cloud architecture. Governance and rollout followed a people and business led approach, with Hitachi Solutions America working alongside Royal Mint teams on change management and digital innovation. A Minimum Viable Product was delivered within 15 weeks of inception by January and a second phase of change has been completed, with the platform intended to support operations at the plant that is expected to process 90 tonnes of e-waste per week. The implementation narrative highlights Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management as the core application enabling traceability, materials control, and production orchestration for The Royal Mint, while cloud migration and a formal data management capability are intended to sustain secure operations and accelerate integrations across manufacturing, operations, procurement and quality functions.
