Howarth Timber Group Distribution 1021 $361M United Kingdom In-House Applications In-House Warehouse Management Warehouse Management 2016 n/a In 2016, Howarth Timber Group implemented an In-House Warehouse Management application to support warehouse and distribution operations. The In-House Warehouse Management is categorized as Warehouse Management and was developed and maintained by internal engineering resources, aligning the application directly with inventory, receiving, picking, and despatch business functions. The solution architecture combined .NET Framework and .NET Core services with a SQL database layer, SQL refactoring and optimization, and several microservices to separate core WMS capabilities. Functional modules implemented included inventory control, inbound receiving, order picking and packing, despatch orchestration, barcode and mobile scanning support implemented via Xamarin, background Windows Services for scheduled processing, and reporting delivered through SSRS with ETL pipelines built using SSIS. Integrations were delivered through middleware to create data flow and processing between the In-House Warehouse Management application and other internal business applications and third-party software vendors, with a specific emphasis on re-engineering existing EDI processing. The implementation also incorporated SharePoint sites and Power Apps integration tied to .NET components to provide a logging and user interface layer for operational teams. Governance and delivery were driven by internal development and project management practices, including database refactoring, creation of SSIS and SSRS projects, and the use of multithreading and asynchronous programming for scalable transaction processing. The Howarth Timber Group In-House Warehouse Management Warehouse Management deployment focused on embedding application-level controls into warehouse workflows and formalizing middleware-driven data interchange across distribution and logistics teams.
