| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2016 | 2016 |
In 2016 Ordnance Survey implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 for core ERP Financial functions. The deployment focused on SD and FI modules to support management information requirements for the Highways project, delivering high quality road product statistics and quality reporting.
The analytical layer was built on SAP BW 7.3 with BEx 7 and SAP BusinessObjects 4.1, including Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Dashboards and Design Studio. Development work included customized InfoCubes, ODS objects and MultiProviders using UDCONNECT connection to an Oracle database, plus DTPs, Process Chains, BEx queries and WEBI and Crystal report development. ABAP was used to extend data sources, implement start and end routines, and develop function modules and programs to meet extraction and transformation requirements.
SAP ERP ECC 6.0 operated alongside a broader application landscape that includes Workday for HR and L&D, CGI ePayfact for payroll, Worldpay for finance interfaces, Delta for procurement SaaS, and customer engagement platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics CE, DotDigital Engagement Cloud 7, LiveAssist and Puzzl. BOBJ CMC administration and a user and group security model were implemented to govern report access, and standard SAP audit Crystal reports were enhanced by extending the universe for customized audit dashboards. The implementation covered SD and FI reporting, BOBJ authorizations, report performance tuning and ongoing BW and BOBJ maintenance.
Governance and delivery activities included requirement analysis with business stakeholders, data modelling, design, development and implementation, plus training and operational support for new recruits. Performance reviews of BW and BusinessObjects informed tuning opportunities, and a WEBI CSS template was standardized to align report presentation. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial served as the transactional and reporting backbone for finance and procurement functions within the Ordnance Survey environment.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020, Ordnance Survey implemented Workday HCM as its Core HR platform, moving to a single authoritative people system following contracts signed in summer 2019 and a planned go-live in April 2020. The deployment established Workday HCM as the primary system of record for employee and contractor data across the organization.
The Workday HCM implementation consolidated hundreds of disparate people-data sources into a unified Core HR dataset, bringing functions such as learning, expenses and time tracking into the same application footprint. Workday HCM was configured to enable manager and employee self-service and to surface people insights and hierarchy data that support directorate-level decision making.
Operational coverage extended across HR and adjacent business functions, with Workday HCM serving as the starting point for provisioning resources, connecting colleagues and driving downstream business processes. The platform houses verified data for who is employed, where and under what terms, and became the trusted source of people data used across the organization.
The rollout followed a compressed decision timeline that emphasized adoption rather than heavy customization, a factor credited by Shaun Ratcliffe, HR Service Delivery Lead, for maintaining momentum and ensuring continuity when COVID-19 lockdowns limited planned in-person training. Remote engagement and the application’s user experience contributed to rapid user uptake and streamlined operational processes.
Over time Ordnance Survey evolved Workday HCM from an HR operations system into a business platform that supports self-serve and data-driven decision making, and it has been used to onboard many of the organization’s new hires as the headcount grew from around 1,000 to 1,400. Workday HCM and the consolidated Core HR dataset now underpin workforce governance and strategic planning across the business.

| LivePerson | Legacy | LivePerson Conversational Cloud | Chatbots and Conversational AI | AI-Powered Application | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018, Ordnance Survey deployed LivePerson Conversational Cloud on its website. The deployment uses LivePerson Conversational Cloud within the Chatbots and Conversational AI category to enable web-based conversational engagement for customer-facing interactions.
Configuration centered on conversational bot building, natural language intent routing, session handling and live agent handover, consistent with Chatbots and Conversational AI functional patterns. The implementation included conversational scripting, automated response flows and real-time conversation monitoring dashboards, with the LivePerson Conversational Cloud providing the cloud orchestration and messaging layer.
The solution is embedded in Ordnance Survey's public website to capture inbound customer queries and route interactions into digital customer service channels. Operational coverage focused on customer service and digital engagement functions, supporting web visitors with mapping product queries, data access questions and account assistance.
Governance emphasized conversational content control, escalation rules and adjustments to agent workflows to support blended bot to human handling. Implementation required conversational script versioning and updates to front-line agent procedures to ensure consistent website interaction handling.
