In 2015, Western Digital implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as its core ERP Financial platform. The program consolidated three prior ERP instances including Oracle E-Business Suite into Oracle Cloud ERP, establishing a single cloud-based ERP Financial environment for global finance and procurement operations.
The implementation centered on Oracle Cloud ERP procurement and finance capabilities, with a primary focus on Oracle Procure to Pay solutions and source to pay process transformation. Configuration work included supplier onboarding, procure to pay workflow automation, and simplified approval workflow design to align procurement authorization with enterprise controls.
Operational scope covered a global rollout of the Oracle Cloud ERP Procure to Pay stack, onboarding 17,000 suppliers and enabling approximately 15,000 internal users on the platform. The program included enterprise wide training and simulation programs, delivered across eight countries, and trained more than 5,000 super users and subject matter experts to support adoption and ongoing operations.
Governance and process change emphasized centralized procurement governance and streamlined approval processes, with IT enterprise applications leadership acting as the IT business partner to Global Procurement. The rollout delivered significant efficiency in source to pay operations and was recognized with internal CIO awards, reflecting organizational adoption and governance maturity.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015, Western Digital implemented Workday Absence Management as its Absence and Leave Management solution to centralize global leave administration. The deployment established Workday Absence Management within a broader Workday HRMS footprint intended to provide a single HRMS platform and consistent business processes globally.
The implementation covered core absence configuration and lifecycle workflows, including absence plans, entitlements, eligibility rules, and approval routing consistent with Absence and Leave Management functional practices. Workday Absence Management was configured alongside Benefits and HCM functional components, and the project team provided consultant level support for Compliance Training and Global Mobility catalogues to align time off, benefits coordination, and employee records.
Integrations were scoped to deliver an interface to payroll for all areas from Workday, ensuring absence posting and payroll calculations were coordinated. The program operated with Centers of Excellence representing HR, Benefits, Payroll, and Global Mobility, and the delivery team acted as liaison with an implementation partner to coordinate design, testing, and production readiness. A separate global rollout of the Taleo recruiting system was managed within the same program, providing a unified approval process while HRIS work focused on Workday for absence and records management.
Governance emphasized COE driven design and structured testing, with the lead analyst consulting COEs to translate requirements into business, functional, and technical documentation. The team advised COEs on new application compatibility with Workday and executed iterative design, testing, and post production deployment cycles for new functionality and integrations. Change management included COE signoffs and documented workflows for absence administration and payroll interfacing.
Post production support was provided at the consultant level for HCM, Benefits, Absence, Compliance Training, and Global Mobility, with ongoing liaison across departments to design, test, and promote new Workday functionality. The program delivered a unified Workday Absence Management deployment that sits within the company wide Workday HRMS strategy and supports global HR and payroll processes.

| SAS Institute | Legacy | SAS Asset Performance Analytics | Asset Performance Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018, Western Digital deployed SAS Asset Performance Analytics to support manufacturing quality and predictive maintenance across its hard disk drive operations. SAS Asset Performance Analytics is implemented as an Asset Performance Management solution to identify potential failures early in the production process and prevent yield excursions.
The deployment ingests a comprehensive data mart built by Western Digital that contains thousands of variables from suppliers, manufacturing, testing, shipment and customer use. SAS Asset Performance Analytics monitors equipment sensors and tags machine to machine data, enabling predictive model building, data extraction, data conversion and advanced data analysis. The solution includes a built in case management system that organizes exceptions and engineer workflows for rapid investigation.
Operational coverage centers on the Hard Disk Drive Analytics department and on production lines where engineers receive alerts when device performance indicators exceed thresholds. The implementation supports end to end product and component traceability across the lifecycle, giving engineers actionable alerts to make timely decisions before a yield excursion occurs.
Process changes included shifting from reactive root cause analysis to predictive monitoring and instituting alert driven case management workflows for timely remediation. Engineers execute model driven investigations and decisioning using extracted and converted data to prioritize interventions and reduce the distribution of defective units.
As deployed, SAS Asset Performance Analytics enabled Western Digital to predict yield excursions and reduce losses caused by defective devices, lowering returned unit volumes and reinforcing customer loyalty and trust, outcomes explicitly stated by the company. This implementation is an Asset Performance Management initiative focused on protecting product quality across HDD manufacturing.
