In 2014 BIS Industries implemented Optalert for Fatigue Management at its Gunnadah NSW operation. The deployment coincided with BIS taking the coal haulage contract supporting transport from the Tarrawonga and Rocglen mines to the Whitehaven CHPP, and targeted driver safety and haulage operations.
The implementation comprised vehicle installations on 30 Scania R560 prime movers and 3 light vehicles, and provisioning of Optalert driver-worn glasses to more than 65 drivers. Configuration emphasized continuous fatigue detection capabilities typical of Fatigue Management systems, centered on ocular monitoring and real-time driver state detection through the Optalert glasses and vehicle-mounted hardware.
Operational coverage was scoped to the Gunnadah site fleet and coal haulage function, with the system applied across drivers assigned to the contracted routes.
