In 2016 Barry Callebaut implemented Protime Time and Attendance to standardize workforce time capture across its European operations. The European challenge was significant, nearly every country had distinct personnel management practices and practices could differ by production site, which left reporting and data consolidation heavily manual and time consuming.
Protime Time and Attendance, in the Time and Attendance category, was configured to support localized rule sets and site level scheduling, absence management, time capture and centralized reporting. The vendor was selected based on prior experience in Belgium and for the functionality and configurability required to model country specific personnel rules and reporting requirements.
Rollout followed a phased multinational approach, deploying Protime in Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, France and Switzerland, with other offices identified as likely next steps. Governance combined central HR coordination for platform standardization and local site administrators for country and site specific configuration, enabling standardized reporting templates while preserving lawful local time management rules.
The implementation established Protime Time and Attendance across multiple European sites and set a consolidation target to operate one time and attendance platform across West and Eastern Europe. Barry Callebaut continues to extend the footprint to align disparate personnel management practices onto a single Time and Attendance platform.
