Fluvius | Utilities | 5680 | $4.4B | Belgium | Ferranti Computer Systems | Ferranti MECOMS 365 Platform | Utilities ERP | 2019 | n/a |
In 2019 Fluvius implemented Ferranti MECOMS 365 Platform as its Utilities ERP to centralize metering and market data processing. The Ferranti MECOMS 365 Platform was deployed to collect, process and distribute metering data from 7 million supply points and to administer consumption and relational data for approximately 7,6 million supply points across Fluvius operations.
Implementation focused on operational modules that run hand held terminals for meter readers, handle Automatic Meter Readings, support various web based services, and provide the underlying processing engine that validates and converts readings into consumptions. MECOMS uses flexible validation rules and meter certificates to normalize readings across a historically grown metering portfolio, it supports complex metering configurations including local production, and it implements dedicated routines for AMR customers with 15 minute intervals, including estimation of missing values and control meter logic.
The solution is integrated with external market parties by forwarding processed consumption data to suppliers and other market participants, and it calculates infeed and allocation figures based on energy injected by the TSO and exchanges between regions. MECOMS also performs gridfee calculation and produces both individual and summary invoices for suppliers, while collecting and calculating hourly consumption values for the 500 largest gas customers as part of imbalance prediction workflows.
Governance and rollout were structured around a dedicated team working with Ferranti Computer Systems to deliver an automated processing core capable of handling large data flows and regulatory change. The platforms flexible architecture was emphasized as enabling continuous growth with the evolving market and the changing role of Fluvius, and validation rules were designed for frequent regulatory updates.
As stated by Fluvius the implementation delivered a flexible Utilities ERP that adapted to changing needs, increased follow up and quality of meter readings, provided comprehensive support for a historic meter portfolio, and produced a fast and reliable system to process millions of meter readings.
