American Surety Company | Insurance | 30 | $18M | United States | Innovative Computer Systems | Finys BI | Analytics and BI | 2020 | n/a |
In 2020, American Surety Company engaged Finys BI to support a new Miscellaneous Surety division, using Finys BI to deliver Analytics and BI alongside billing, claims, financials, accounting, and reporting capabilities. The engagement began in November 2020 when the project development lead attended a Finys demonstration that used American Surety Company data to show Bond Management, Billing, Documents, Diary, Agency Management, payment processing, and financial reporting workflows.
Finys configured a dedicated testing environment and delivered a functionally accurate, configurable implementation that American Surety used for user acceptance testing. Implemented modules included billing, claims processing, core financials and accounting, document and diary management, agency management screens, and payment processing for agencies and applicants, with reporting surfaced through the Finys BI application. The project team documented existing workflows, captured a gap list during UAT in early 2021, and used that list to prioritize a phased production rollout.
Architecturally, American Surety did not adopt the Finys front end for bond issuance and instead used a separately contracted bond issuance system, requiring Finys to build an interface and perform data migration from the bond system into Finys BI. Finys demonstrated an initial data migration and iteratively refined the integration to align with American Surety workflows. The rollout included an agency pilot that began May 15, 2022 and a production go live in June 2022, and Finys teams were responsible for infrastructure, security, database operations, and integration stability as described by the customer.
Governance and operations were formalized through documented process mapping, UAT, a prioritized gap list, and phased deployment to accommodate limited initial premium volume. The customer reported that a prelaunch service interruption was resolved with all hands on deck and that the agency pilot proceeded successfully, with the go live described as everything went off without a hitch. Ongoing signals cited by the customer include short maintenance windows that took 15 minutes in one instance, steady update cadence in UAT, low turnover on the Finys side, and reported outcomes of solid performance, measurable value, and peace of mind.

Farmers of Salem | Insurance | 60 | $40M | United States | Innovative Computer Systems | Finys BI | Analytics and BI | 2020 | n/a |
In 2020, Farmers of Salem implemented Finys BI in the Analytics and BI category, with Innovative Computer Systems listed as the vendor. The deployment emphasized web-based portals and self-service interfaces for policyholders and agents, enabling online policy registration, document retrieval, bill payment, and claims reporting.
The implementation covered personal lines modules for Homeowners, Personal Umbrella, and Combination Dwelling, with commercial rollout beginning with Business Owners Policy and Commercial Package planned next. On the policy side Finys BI was configured with declarations, rating algorithms, rate data tables, endorsement forms, Lookup Lists, and a smart model, much of the configuration built using the Finys Design Studio and validated with test cases.
Claims capabilities delivered within Finys BI included coverage-specific payment tracking and the ability to record per-coverage payment detail while issuing a single check, preserving actuarial and rating granularity. The claims module also captured expense-reporting details for in-house adjusters, outside adjusters, engineers, roofers, and attorneys, and extended self-service so policyholders and agents can view claim receipt, claim number, and staff assignments, which reduced inbound claims calls.
The project incorporated online and batch integrations and provided operational coverage across policy, billing, claims, and reporting workflows, supporting writing in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. Agents use an agent portal to issue policies and obtain forms, while insureds use a customer portal to register policies, retrieve documents, pay bills, and report claims.
Governance and rollout were organized through biweekly full-team calls and weekly breakout sessions for policy, billing, claims, and reports, with Finys team leads such as Lee Simmons and Steve Pierce participating in release reviews and ticket triage. The implementation emphasized collaborative configuration, iterative release communication, and Design Studio driven rating and testing, and Farmers of Salem reported agent adoption of the interface and responsive vendor engagement including the addition of extra state filings during the engagement.

Hospitality Insurance Group | Insurance | 36 | $10M | United States | Innovative Computer Systems | Finys BI | Analytics and BI | 2020 | n/a |
In 2020 Hospitality Insurance Group implemented Finys BI to provide an Analytics and BI layer alongside core Finys Suite functionality. The deployment covered underwriting, policy administration, claims, and billing for Commercial Property, General Liability, and Liquor Liability across seven states, with underwriting and agent workflows explicitly in scope.
The implementation used Finys Design Studio to configure product logic and a rules engine that eliminated spreadsheet work for underwriters, enabling on-system calculations and code derivation. Finys BI was deployed to surface reporting and analytics from those configured workflows, and the quoting function was staged to go live almost a year ahead of full production to accelerate user adoption and reduce change friction.
Marias Technology supported requirement definition, system testing, and translation of business needs into Finys specifications, compensating for Hospitality Insurance Group having one internal technical resource. The program ran about 18 months from agreement signing to full implementation of the named lines and states, and the team launched all states and lines simultaneously rather than phasing by geography or product.
Governance and rollout emphasized change management from executive coaching to phased functional exposure, which accelerated user confidence and operational stability. Finys BI and the Finys Suite modules policy administration, claims, billing and Design Studio were presented under a commercial model tied to a percentage of premium, and the project delivered a stable, smooth go live with underwriters reporting improved efficiency and confidence on the system.

Mennonite Mutual Insurance | Insurance | 40 | $10M | United States | Innovative Computer Systems | Finys BI | Analytics and BI | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018, Mennonite Mutual Insurance implemented Finys BI, selecting the product to address aging systems and a failed implementation with a previous vendor. The deployment positioned Finys BI as the companys Analytics and BI platform and centralized policy and claims data across all lines of business to support underwriting, claims, billing, and accounting functions.
The implementation leveraged the Finys Suite Design Studio to enable high configurability and in house configuration by the insurers IT and underwriting staff, reducing dependency on custom coding. Key functional capabilities implemented include agent access and portal views, FNOL driven claims intake, claim assignment and reserve setting, integrated policy visibility within claim screens for coverage verification, rating and underwriting workflows, month end reporting and commissions, and account billing and collections visibility.
The solution was deployed as a web based suite which reduced the need to purchase and maintain local servers and enabled remote access for internal users and external agents. Integrations were selected to streamline underwriting and to accept submissions that had previously flowed from agency management systems, enabling more seamless FNOL handling and tighter data alignment between policy and claims.
Governance and operational change accompanied the technical rollout, with Mennonite Mutual creating internal documentation to drive renewal migration and using Design Studio to capture institutional knowledge. Finys provided a consistent project team that guided configuration choices, workflow design, and production issue resolution, and the insurer reengineered processes to balance system capabilities with existing business practices.
Explicit outcomes reported by Mennonite Mutual include a doubling of direct written premium from 21,502,000 to just over 42,000,000 since 2018, staff adjustments including the addition of an underwriting assistant, two underwriters, one IT person and five claims representatives while absorbing two underwriting departures, a shorter accounting close with commissions available earlier in the month, improved agent satisfaction and adoption, and greater transparency in billing and accounts receivable.

Rogers & Gray Insurance Agency | Insurance | 20 | $2M | United States | Innovative Computer Systems | Finys BI | Analytics and BI | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018, Rogers & Gray Insurance Agency implemented Finys BI as the reporting and analytics backbone for its new MGA, Monomoy Insurance, to support the rapid launch of Monomoy Homeowners. The deployment of Finys BI was undertaken as part of a broader Finys Suite implementation that Rogers & Gray began working on in early 2018, with an aggressive go live target for policy issuance and billing.
The Finys BI implementation consolidated data from the Finys Suite where rating, policy issuance, and billing were operated on a single integrated platform, enabling centralized reporting across underwriting and policy administration workflows. Finys BI was used to begin defining standard and ad hoc reports, and the organization explicitly noted ongoing report definition work, signaling phased analytics configuration rather than a finished reporting catalog.
Integrations feeding the Finys BI environment were implemented in phases, with Phase 1 focused on policy write and issue capabilities and Phase 2 adding producer-facing and data enrichment integrations. Explicit integrations brought into the overall Finys ecosystem and therefore into the BI dataset include address verification, mortgage verification, LexisNexis, and an online pay portal tied to the agency bank. The team also documented an open integration with a third-party claims administrator and planned to ingest claims data from that third party into Finys for reporting in subsequent integration phases.
Governance and rollout emphasized tight project cadence and concurrent validation, with twice weekly status reviews and continuous communication between Rogers & Gray and Finys, and user acceptance testing performed in parallel with ongoing development to meet the aggressive timeline. The initial implementation produced a tangible milestone when the first policy was issued on April 14, the project survived a midproject change in lead project manager with the vendor team absorbing the transition, and Rogers & Gray continued to refine reports and expand integrations. The implementation demonstrates Rogers & Gray Insurance Agency Finys BI Analytics and BI integration across policy, billing, and external data feeds to support underwriting, producer workflows, and enterprise reporting.
