Bank of the West | Banking and Financial Services | 9261 | $2.8B | United States | SailPoint Technologies | SailPoint IdentityIQ | Identity and Access Management (IAM) | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021, Bank of the West implemented SailPoint IdentityIQ as the central platform for its Identity and Access Management (IAM) program, provisioning a unified approach to identity lifecycle and access governance. The SailPoint IdentityIQ deployment targeted enterprise identity lifecycle management use cases, including provisioning, re-certification, role lifecycle management and access review orchestration across IT, application ownership, security and compliance functions.
Implementation work centered on SailPoint Lifecycle Manager Workflows, Lifecycle Events, Certification Events, Custom Email Templates and Task Definitions, with extensive configuration of provisioning and identity workflows, RBAC definitions, authentication and authorization controls. The team developed custom Rules and Policies in Beanshell, BuildMap Rules and Workflows, and configured connectors, workflows, forms and reports inside SailPoint IdentityIQ to support approval chains and automated provisioning flows.
Integrations were executed against managed systems and toolsets in the test and production topology, including Active Directory, Oracle and JDBC managed systems, and a ServiceNow ticketing integration for access request and remediation workflows. The project team collaborated closely with Information Security and IT operations to integrate application connectors and to align role lifecycle management with existing application entitlement models.
Governance design produced an enterprise model spanning roles, policies and risk, implemented within SailPoint IdentityIQ to centralize identity data, role definitions and business policy and risk modeling for compliance. The implemented solution automated routing of access review reports to appropriate certifiers and tracked the full history of each certification item, including delegation, forwarding, challenge and review decisions for entitlements and roles.
Operational activities included installation and configuration of SailPoint IdentityIQ, connector development and re-certification processes, end to end integration testing, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and coordination with development and project management on database and deployment timelines. The program focused on embedding SailPoint IdentityIQ functionality into existing ITSM and security workflows to operationalize access governance and lifecycle automation.
