Alinta Asset Management Australia implemented Hitachi Ellipse EAM ERP, formerly ABB Ventyx Ellipse ERP, in 2010 as an ERP Financial application. The deployment included an Ellipse upgrade and a data migration that moved core asset and finance records to a cloud based SaaS environment. Implementation scope aligned with a broader finance business transformation program and retail sales initiatives, covering finance and project accounting workflows. The Ellipse environment was provisioned to support the company’s Australia based operations and centralized financial processing.
Hitachi Ellipse EAM ERP was configured to support core financial ledgers and a converted Chart of Accounts, with the conversion spanning over 120 legal entities. Functional modules implemented included general ledger configuration, project financial management tooling for project managers, an expense management solution with mobile capture for employees, and reporting instrumentation using Tableau and Power BI. The program executed structured system integration testing, user acceptance testing and integration test plans to validate module cutovers and configuration. Data migration and account mapping workstreams preserved transactional integrity across finance and project accounting modules.
System integration delivered automated data flows between Ellipse and external HR and HSE systems, reducing manual handoffs and addressing data security risks. Operational coverage included finance, project management and HR adjacent processes, with reporting consumption at business unit and board reporting levels. The move to cloud based SaaS hosting altered the application architecture to a managed service model with centralized application and data hosting.
Governance and rollout were managed through a program framework with active risk, issue and dependency management, change management plans, and targeted communications and training. Project financial management tracked budgets, cash flow forecasting and program level financial reporting. Continuous improvement workstreams were embedded to refine processes and stabilize a Fit for Purpose operating model.
Explicit outcomes recorded included on time and within budget delivery with minimal impact to business services. The project achieved successful conversion of the Ellipse Chart of Accounts for more than 120 legal entities, deployed mobile enabled expense management that reduced reimbursement lead times, and implemented Tableau and Power BI reporting to improve business insights and board reporting.
