Florin Manufacturing 135 $16M Switzerland SAP SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial 2021 In 2021, Florin began a Brownfield conversion project to implement SAP S/4 HANA as its core ERP Financial platform, moving from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and commissioning GIA Informatik AG for execution, a decision reported by Aveniq. The program targets a technical conversion first, preserving existing configuration where possible while aligning master data and financial controls to SAP S/4 HANA standards. The implementation workstream is focused on master data harmonization and technical cutover tasks, specifically a Business-Partner migration on the existing R/3 landscape and the planned deactivation of obsolete transactions. A first technical conversion into a sandbox environment is scheduled for April, with SAP S/4 HANA sandbox instances provisioned to host functional test cycles by key users prior to a wider rollout. Operational scope centers on core finance and master data domains, with the project posture designed to protect ongoing manufacturing operations during the cutover by sequencing technical migration ahead of business process change. The timeline described preserves continuity of financial posting and business partner records while isolating the Process Re-Design effort to a subsequent phase. Governance and rollout sequencing are explicit, the sandbox is expected to be functional for key-user testing before the summer, and a production go-live is scheduled for 2 January 2022. After the technical migration to SAP S/4 HANA, Florin plans a follow-on Process Re-Design initiative to adapt workflows and governance to the new ERP Financial environment.
Schweizer Salinen Manufacturing 150 $17M Switzerland SAP SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial 2016 In 2016 Schweizer Salinen began a greenfield implementation of SAP S/4 HANA in the ERP Financial category to re-engineer core business processes and replace SAP R/3. The project kicked off with process recording in February 2016 and executed staged go-lives, with Saline de Bex going live on January 1 2019 and Riburg and Schweizerhalle launched on April 1 2019, covering the company operational sites Bex, Riburg and Schweizerhalle. The implementation used an industry template approach based on the GIA//Manufacturing model to map defined process modules to SAP S/4 HANA and determine which scenarios would follow SAP standard configuration versus customer-specific extensions. Functional scope emphasized order processing, production and storage workflows, finance process re-engineering and electronic data exchange capabilities to strengthen integration with customers, suppliers and partners. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to increase automation across these modules and to centralize transactional data for a single system of record across sites. Architecturally the deployment was provisioned as a cloud-hosted SAP S/4 HANA instance operated via GIA Informatik cloud services, with the implementation program listing Aveniq as an SI VAR in procurement documentation and GIA Informatik delivering project implementation and infrastructure. Peripheral systems were assessed for cloud capability and interfaced to the new ERP, and electronic data exchange channels were established to improve supplier and customer integration. The greenfield approach removed customized extensions that previously prevented standard process mapping in SAP R/3 and provided a consolidated application platform for finance and operational functions. Governance and operational change emphasized structured change management and staged rollout to accommodate seasonal business constraints in the winter months, including targeted training for staff migrating from SAP R/3 and standardized SAP project management practices. The program explicitly delivered higher levels of process automation, faster and higher quality operational processing, and unified access to data across the three locations, and Schweizer Salinen continues to pursue additional automation and device and object connectivity as follow-on work within the SAP S/4 HANA environment.
Agathon Manufacturing 250 $40M Switzerland SAP SAP HANA Database Management 2017 In 2017, Agathon implemented SAP HANA as its core database platform within a Database Management program, replacing an Oracle Database that had been running on Windows. The vendor for the new in-memory database is SAP, and the initial technical milestone in December 2017 was a Unicode conversion to enable global character support ahead of the migration. The deployment moved the SAP landscape from a Windows based Oracle backend to SAP HANA on a Linux enterprise server, reducing the database footprint from approximately 300 gigabytes on Oracle to about 150 gigabytes on HANA. The implementation emphasized platform consolidation and in-memory processing capabilities typical of Database Management projects, with SAP HANA deployed as the primary database tier to support future migration paths to SAP S/4HANA. Integration work focused on adapting interfaces for internal and external programs to accommodate the operating system change and the HANA architecture. The project team adjusted interface mappings and transport workflows, and testing covered SAP application runtime behavior, notably MRP processing, to validate that interfaces function without errors across international sites including the USA and China. Agathon engaged Aveniq as the SI VAR and used GIA Informatik AG for cloud operations and platform hosting in a managed private cloud located in Switzerland. The project followed a compressed timeline with kick off and Unicode preparation in December 2017, development system migration at the end of January 2018, interface adaptation by mid February 2018, and productive system migration and go live at the end of February 2018, completing technical data export and import in about twelve hours. Project staffing comprised four people across Agathon and GIA, with roughly 150 hours of effort on both sides, and a reported deep five figure project cost. Post go live the implementation delivered explicitly reported operational outcomes, the project finished on time and within budget, interfaces operated without errors, MRP and other runtimes were significantly improved, and response times were optimized through SAP HANA. Agathon retained plans to finalize a switch to S/4HANA Enterprise Management starting mid 2019 with a target completion by the end of 2022, and CRM optimization and data cleansing work continued as follow on activity.
