In 2024 Water Corporation implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and engaging Wipro as the systems integrator. The program was scoped as a finance transformation to consolidate financial and asset accounting processes across the organization and to align transactional finance with updated operating practices.
Configuration and module work centered on Asset Accounting as a stated subject matter area, with deployment workstreams covering core financial ledger capabilities, accounts payable, accounts receivable and controlling consistent with ERP Financial implementations. Project teams delivered SAP automation tools to streamline fixed asset processing, and consultants localised SAP S/4 HANA best practice processes to Water Corporation business rules.
Operational coverage emphasised finance, procurement level 4 processes and asset management, with cross-functional engagement between IT, finance and executive leadership. Implementation activities included 25 plus cross-functional workshops to drive standardisation, process mapping across business units, and process-led operating model training for SMEs and stakeholders to embed new workflows.
Governance incorporated SME-led design authority for Asset Accounting, stakeholder consultation to localise standard processes, and Wipro-led delivery oversight. Outcomes documented during the program include reduced processing times from SAP automation work, integration of roughly half of identified process improvements into operations, and continued stewardship of a roughly 37 billion dollar asset portfolio under the new SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial environment.
