Adient North America | Manufacturing | 31500 | $7.2B | United States | Onit | OnitX CLM | Contract Lifecycle Management | 2016 | n/a |
In 2016, Adient North America implemented OnitX CLM as its Contract Lifecycle Management system. The OnitX CLM deployment was managed by Corporate Applications and supported Legal, Communications, and Environmental Health and Safety business functions across the Americas, LATAM, APAC, and EMEA. The program was executed during separation activities from Johnson Controls and included dedicated integration and migration workstreams.
Configuration centered on contract intake, approval routing, a central contract repository, and reporting capabilities, with customized modules developed inside OnitX CLM using XML, HTML, and JSON to address legal and compliance requirements. Role based access control and access control lists were implemented to enforce document access and lifecycle actions. The team applied SDLC and project management principles to iterate on workflows and to operationalize a reporting process that prioritized technical issue remediation.
OnitX CLM was integrated with explicitly named legal and document systems, including DocuSign, CounselLink, HotDocs, Zapproved, GEMS, and ProxyClick, to enable e-signature, matter integration, document automation, and ancillary legal processes. Technical stewardship included analysis of platform framework and architecture, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and a cross-regional support model. Support and service delivery functions were centralized to provide incident resolution and to run formal user acceptance testing before production releases.
Governance incorporated RBAC administration, ACL management, a documented knowledge base, and formal user acceptance testing to control releases and maintain compliance. Knowledge base updates and process documentation reduced escalations and average resolution times by 20 percent during the managed period. Executive reporting of KPIs, roadmaps, and prioritized deliverables ensured the OnitX CLM Contract Lifecycle Management platform remained aligned with corporate priorities and budget constraints.

Advance | Media | 12000 | $3.0B | United States | Onit | OnitX CLM | Contract Lifecycle Management | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018 Advance Publications implemented OnitX CLM as its Contract Lifecycle Management solution to establish a centralized contract and matter platform for the corporate Legal Department. The implementation was executed while reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, and it aligned with a broader legal operations buildout at Advance Publications, Inc in New York from 2018 to 2019 that consolidated a captive law firm into a single in-house legal organization.
OnitX CLM deployment focused on contract lifecycle workflows and matter management capabilities, including contract intake, approval routing, standardized templates and forms, and document management linkage. The program included configuration of automated workflows and change communications, creation of department-specific processes, training and onboarding for legal staff and administrative users, and the introduction of governance around contract handling and matter intake.
The OnitX CLM deployment was integrated into a broader legal technology stack, working with the companys IT group and outside consultants to surface contract and matter data in a visual business intelligence dashboard. The rollout included complementary implementations of eBilling using Onit Tracker, a Real Estate system using Visual Lease, and entity management via Diligent and Blueprint, and it aligned contract and matter workflows with Finance, Procurement, and other cross-functional partners.
Governance and operating model changes were led from the CLO office, with strategic roadmaps, KPI tracking, vendor management, and formalized processes for outside counsel and third party spend. The legal operations program documented timelines and milestones, deploying eBilling and entity management within six months and launching document management and the first CLM and matter management solution within twelve months. Department-level outcomes included vendor consolidation and a documented 25% reduction in outside counsel spend over an eight month period.

In 2017 American Superconductor Corporation implemented OnitX CLM in a Contract Lifecycle Management deployment to centralize contract, sales order, and service documentation workflows. The program targeted Sales and Field Service teams with Legal and Finance review gates and leadership signature routing through a secured web portal.
The OnitX CLM configuration delivered a document repository and multi-stage approval workflows that routed documents to Legal, Finance, and a Field Service Coordinator before final approval by the Leadership Team. Governance and process rhythms were formalized through monthly meetings with Finance to review backlog, open order reports, and balance the earnings statement, and through preapproval review steps before VP signoff.
OnitX CLM was positioned as a single secured site for multiple people to review, track, and execute a multiple approval process, and the implementation included creation of a centralized contract inventory for DVAR units to track active, expired, and upcoming expirations, plus customer renewal coordination.
