Affidea Group | Healthcare | 14000 | $715M | Netherlands | Planon Software | Planon Universe | Facility Management | 2017 | n/a |
In 2017, Planon expanded Planon Universe to include a Lease Accounting solution that Affidea Group selected to support IFRS 16 lease accounting compliance. Affidea Group is the largest European provider of diagnostic imaging, outpatient and cancer care services, operating 260 centres across 16 countries and employing more than 9,200 professionals and performing over 13 million diagnostic examinations annually.
The deployment centers on Planon Universe as an Integrated Workplace Management System in the Facility Management category, with an embedded Lease Accounting module integrated alongside portfolio, lease, strategic space and transaction management capabilities to provide a single source of truth and a 360 degree view of real estate and asset portfolios. Configuration work emphasized the ability to handle large numbers of leases and to align lease accounting entries with property and asset management records in line with IFRS 16 accounting workflows.
Operational coverage and integrations focused on Group Accounting, Systems and Processes functions within Affidea, extending across finance and property operations in its European center network. Accounting firm KPMG acted as an advising implementation partner, providing compliance guidance and implementation assurance for a multi market rollout across Affidea Group operations.
Governance and rollout planning emphasized consolidation of lease data into Planon Universe, coordination between finance, property and local country operations, and the establishment of central lease accounting workflows to support ongoing IFRS 16 compliance. Affidea’s selection rationale highlighted Planon Universe’s established leasing subscriber base and capability to manage complex, high volume lease portfolios, with KPMG support cited as a factor in delivering a compliant implementation.

Ahold Delhaize | Retail | 390000 | $120.9B | Netherlands | Planon Software | Planon Universe | Facility Management | 2017 | n/a |
In 2017 Ahold Delhaize Netherlands upgraded their in-house Planon system to Planon Universe in the Facility Management category, initiating a project to re-integrate the new release into the existing IT landscape. The central Dutch Facility Management organisation uses Planon Universe to standardize facility, contract and maintenance management processes across headquarters, distribution centres and home shop centres, handling approximately 100,000 visitor registrations, 80,000 room bookings and 70,000 maintenance calls yearly through the system.
The implementation followed a functional as-is upgrade approach, retaining extensive Planon Self-Service forms and existing configurations while adopting Planon Universe capabilities, including Planon Apps and planned rollout of Planon Mobile Field Services for field engineers. The deployment was delivered via the Planon cloud service and leveraged the new Planon integration technology, which required reworking interface logic and cloud security considerations.
Planon Universe was integrated with a diverse set of Ahold Delhaize IT systems, explicitly including HR, finance, access and identity management, to maintain end-to-end FM workflows and data flows. Operational scope covered Dutch headquarters, distribution centres and home shop centres, and future phases aimed to onboard external service providers to the platform to extend field service and supplier workflows.
Governance relied on a broad cross functional project team with representation from management, business, IT and Planon, the project was framed as an integration effort to manage interface change and cloud implications. IT security performed penetration tests, Planon issued service packs to resolve findings, and Ahold Delhaize executed two dry runs before final go live, resulting in a low risk cutover. Reported outcomes from the upgrade included restored vendor support, improved performance, reduced total cost of ownership through cloud deployment, continuous update capability for ongoing innovation, and improved end user satisfaction within the Facility Management function.

In 2015 Bourne Leisure implemented Planon Universe to support Facility Management across its Haven Holidays estate, initiating a multi-year program to centralize repairs and maintenance workflows. The implementation targeted facilities operations for holiday parks across the United Kingdom and focused on asset, contractor and mobile-enabled field operations.
Planon Universe was configured with the asset management module to support asset data loads and reporting, and the contractor management module to enable on-site contractor check-in and governance. The program also deployed the Planon desktop application alongside a large enterprise mobility rollout, provisioning 1500 mobile devices across 16 sites to enable technicians and mobile users to receive and update work orders in the field.
Operational coverage included asset surveys across 40 sites with a dedicated team of asset surveyors performing data validation to ensure accurate system data loads, and ongoing software support delivered both remotely and on-site. The project worked closely with the internal IT project delivery team, senior stakeholders, holiday parks, and external consultants and the software house, aligning field operations, contractor management, and maintenance planning within the Planon Universe environment.
Delivery followed an Agile framework, with management of system administration, configuration, testing and end to end deployment activities. Project governance included maintained project documentation, RAID logs, plans, schedules and regular reporting, and the team of sys admins, testers, developers and asset surveyors provided post go-live support to stabilize repairs and maintenance workflows and ensure data availability on system reports.
