In 2020, 20 Microns implemented IBM Power Systems to host its SAP S/4HANA environment under the Application Hosting and Computing Services category, deploying infrastructure to modernize back-office processing and provide unified visibility into resource and asset management. The IBM Power Systems deployment was provisioned and delivered with Silver Touch Technologies as the implementation partner, focused on availability and performance to support critical SAP workloads.
The deployment architecture is hosted in 20 Microns’ corporate data center and uses a pair of IBM Power Systems H922 servers configured in high availability mode. IBM PowerVM virtualization was used to create virtualized SAP database, production, development and quality assurance servers across the IBM hardware, with SAP data stored on IBM FlashSystem 5000. IBM Spectrum Protect was implemented to automate backup processes, and an IBM TS2900 Tape Autoloader provides long term data retention for critical information.
Operationally the environment supports 105 users distributed across 20 Microns’ offices throughout India and runs SAP S/4HANA functional workflows including Material Requirement Planning and CO Profitability Analysis. These modules tie the IBM Power Systems implementation directly to supply chain planning, production scheduling and profitability analysis business functions, while logs and alerting were enabled to provide operational monitoring and visibility into system behavior.
Governance and rollout were executed with a compressed schedule, the project completed in less than four months from contract signature and the physical deployment taking roughly 15 days. The solution created a virtualized, high availability architecture combined with automated backup and recovery to protect operations, and delivered measurable performance improvements, including about a 60% reduction in processing time for a specific SAP operation, enabling clearer insight into critical business processes.
