Aetna Inc Insurance 50000 $105.6B United States Tungsten Automation Kofax Transformation Intelligent Document Processing 2018 n/a
In 2018, Aetna Inc deployed Kofax Transformation as part of an Intelligent Document Processing initiative with engagement from Tungsten Automation to centralize document ingestion and extraction workflows. The implementation was grounded in the Kofax suite, including Kofax Capture, Kofax Transformation Module, and Kofax Total Agility, and explicitly targeted finance and business reporting use cases such as accounts receivable and accounts payable automation. Kofax Capture was installed and configured in standalone and client server modes using KCNS architecture, with batch class creation, batch manager workflows, sample types, index zones, group index zones, PDF generation, and export connectors configured. Custom modules and workflow agents were developed, including COM libraries and extensive scripting to handle challenging document extraction scenarios, and database driven validation and exporting of extracted data to enterprise databases was implemented. Email ingestion and Kofax Import Connector configuration were used for intake of electronic invoices from email and shared folders. Kofax Transformation activities included project configuration, classification, separation, field extraction, benchmarking against a golden set, use of dictionaries and flat file data sources, and use of formatters and search and match capabilities to reconcile extracted values against master keys. Kofax Total Agility was used to build reusable business processes, extensive validation rules, and custom C# libraries for document sorting and filtering, while Total Agility API and SDK work created synchronous and asynchronous jobs that exposed Kofax functionality to other systems via REST and SOAP. Integrations included placing converted PDFs and images to network paths and invoking external APIs, and embedded Kapow bots were integrated into KTA process cores. Operational governance covered requirement workshops, technical design documentation, discovery sessions, and creation of roadmaps and business cases to prioritize automation opportunities across multi geographic teams. Configuration of Resources and Personas, setup of email notification functionality, development of asynchronous processes to tune performance, and upgrade planning and health checks were part of the rollout and ongoing support. The Kofax Transformation implementation automated many finance and business reporting processes and provided server synchronous REST responses for downstream ERP systems to consume extracted data.
Allstate Insurance 55000 $67.7B United States Tungsten Automation Kofax Transformation Intelligent Document Processing 2015 n/a
In 2015 Allstate implemented Kofax Transformation as part of an enterprise Information Capture program within the Intelligent Document Processing category, centralizing capture across more than 35 Allstate business units. The platform ingests documents from Scan, Remote Scan, Right Fax, Exchange and electronic imports and injects them into the Kofax processing pipeline for downstream routing. The implementation bundle includes Kofax TotalAgility, Kofax TotalAgility Transformation Designer, Kofax Capture, Kofax Transformation Modules, Kofax Analytics, Kofax Monitor and Kofax Reporting, with Kofax Import Connector and Kofax Communication Server handling intake and transport. Functional capabilities deployed are automatic classification to eliminate manual sorting, automatic separation of multi page documents, OCR IMR and OMR based data extraction to reduce manual keying, and staged validation using business rules, web service calls and database lookups. Information captured and normalized by Kofax Transformation is distributed to downstream EDMS and client systems according to configured routing logic, and the environment is integrated with Nintex K2 Cloud for workflow orchestration. Application development leverages Visual Studio and languages including C# VB.Net ASP.NET and VBA, while persistence and lookup operations use MS SQL Server and Oracle databases. Custom applications and processing artifacts are stored in a GitHub repository and the build and release pipeline is automated using Jenkins and Compliance Buddy, following Agile methodologies and DevOps practices. This governance and automation model centralized code management and automated delivery for Kofax Transformation implementations across Allstate business units.
Assurant Insurance 14000 $11.9B United States Tungsten Automation Kofax Transformation Intelligent Document Processing 2016 n/a
In 2016 Assurant implemented Kofax Transformation as its Intelligent Document Processing solution, deploying configuration and operational workstreams at Assurant Inc in Atlanta, Georgia. The engagement centered on installing and configuring KTA across multiple environments, configuring Kofax Import connectors through KIC, and provisioning KSMS to support automated document intake and processing. The implementation included hands on configuration of Kofax Transformation modules and KTM model management. Responsibilities covered document training for extraction and classification, development and tuning of locators including Invoice Group Locators, Trainable Group Locators, Database Locator and Database Evaluators, Format Locator, Advance Zone Locators, as well as custom script locators and Validation Script logic. The team updated KTA process models, performed import and export of KTM models on KTA, and managed the code merge process for KTM changes from multiple developers. Operational governance was structured around environment promotion and job monitoring in the KTA environment. Source control and development tooling listed in the environment included Visual Studio 2013, MS Visual SourceSafe, Team Foundation Server 2013, IIS 6.0 and MS SQL Server, and product versions included KTA7.3 and KTM 6.1 together with KSMS and KIC. The work supported document capture, extraction and validation workflows used by accounts payable and other document centric intake functions, with formal model release and code merge processes to govern changes across environments.
