Operational integrations included Data Guard and rsync replication to a disaster recovery site for business continuity, user access integration with Microsoft Azure for authentication and the use of public and private load balancing as a service for traffic management. The ExaCS database tier also connected to third party applications ESP, Mantis and STAT to support downstream payroll and HR workflows, maintaining tight coupling between PeopleSoft Payroll and transactional feeds.
Administration and operational governance were provided by Oracle Managed Cloud Services from Oracle Advanced Customer Services which administered PeopleSoft Payroll applications, the ExaCS databases, supporting infrastructure and the OCI tenancy. A cost conscious sacrificial disaster recovery approach was used by sharing a non production database on a single ExaCS instance to increase performance and reduce costs, and the environment design emphasized fault domain separation, Data Guard protection and managed operations for ongoing platform reliability.
