20 Microns | Oil, Gas and Chemicals | 384 | $91M | India | SAP | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | 2020 | Silver Touch Technologies | In 2020, 20 Microns implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and engaging Silver Touch Technologies as the implementation partner. The project was initiated to address end of support for the prior SAP ERP ECC 6.0 environment and to overcome server hardware limitations that constrained reporting, automation, and processing performance. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment focused on core functional modules including Material Requirement Planning and CO Profitability Analysis, providing unified visibility into resource and asset management and enabling profitability analysis workflows. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support production planning, inventory requirement processing, and profitability reporting, and was instrumented to deliver operational alerts and logs to IT teams for ongoing monitoring and issue resolution. Architecturally the solution was hosted in 20 Microns corporate data center on an IBM hardware stack. The environment uses a pair of IBM Power Systems H922 servers in a high availability configuration with PowerVM virtualization to provision virtual SAP database, production, development and quality assurance servers. SAP data is stored on IBM FlashSystem 5000, with IBM Spectrum Protect providing an automated backup process and an IBM TS2900 Tape Autoloader used for long term retention. The overall infrastructure design emphasized availability and recoverability, and the full implementation was completed in under four months with approximately 15 days of cutover activity. Operationally the SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial rollout covers about 105 users across 20 Microns offices in India and impacts finance, supply chain, and operations functions through MRP and CO-PA workflows. Governance changes included automated backup and recovery processes and a virtualized production and recovery architecture to support around the clock business operations. Reported outcomes explicitly include roughly a 60 percent reduction in processing time for specific SAP operations and clearer insight into critical business processes that support profitability analysis. | |
